Within The Waves — Woven Tapestry
The ocean is my calming place, even within the waves pop uncertainty. And it has been a generous teacher throughout many seasons of life. Grief is like an ocean. It ebbs + flows. It is wild + unpredictable. Its depths are fathomless + cannot be contained. It comes in like a riptide + forces us to fight like hell to stay afloat. We may have experiences being in the ocean, but each time is different. Because the ocean makes the rules. We may have experiences with our own grief, but each instance is different. Because grief makes the rules. When our world is grieving — we need to stop anchoring one another with judgment for how one grieves + instead throw out love like a lifeline. Empathy + compassion + a listening ear can make the waves of grief much easier to ride. So, for week eleven of #100daysofphotostofibers, I drew inspiration from this photo I took within the waves of grief.
I set out to create an abstract weave of the beautiful yet tumultuous ocean, combining multiple textures + hues of ocean blue, seafoam, aqua + mint.
