In The Mourning — Macramé Tapestry

In the mourning, the sun still rises. And so could I. In the mourning, the songbirds sing, and so could I. In the mourning, vibrant colors reclaim the darkest of nights. And so could I. In the mourning the sun will rise. And so can I.

Nature has always been my best teacher — and the morning sky reminds me in the midst of the darkest times, how a new dawn is coming that is filled with beauty. So, for this statement macramé of the #100moredaysofphotostofibers collection, I drew inspiration from this photo I took of the sunrise in Hawassa, Ethiopia.

I set out to paint with fiber this morning sky by mixing all the vibrant + soft purples, pinks, oranges + yellows.

For #the100dayproject, my original photos will also be available for purchase. If you would like to purchase the print of the Hawassa Sunrise, “In The Mourning”, it is available here.

With every sale, you choose a project you would like to support. My hope is that it would connect you to some incredible work that is being done around the world. Together, we are #knotjustthreads, we are an interwoven tapestry and when we come together, beautiful things can happen.

I have been intentional with the organizations I have chosen to support. I know that it is not only important to know where the money goes, but to know that the work is being done in sustainable ways to produce a long-lasting impact. Having personally partnered with each of these organizations in the field, I have seen how they practice love in action.
